planning for dinner tonight with Alex and Kyle, but looks like we’ll instead meet for pizza tomorrow night. yesterday Mira decided to say goodbye to diapers, so was good timing to give her a bunch of VS dogs as a reward and present. dinner with my 2 girls at a new spot on Michigan.

relaxing midday architecture tour on the river. learned a lot, great photo ops. early dinner at Cantina Laredo, tasty food plus a pitcher of margaritas. 🙂

afternoon train to Hyde Park and a visit to the Museum of Science and Industry. cool spot, haven’t been since i was a kid. raining when we left so taxied home rather than walking back to the train station. dinner at Sakura for some fun teppanyaki.

up early, packed, and grabbed breakfast around the corner. short drive for a fun tour at Cave of the Mounds. drove home via the Wisconsin country roads to avoid traffic. dropped the family off, returned the rental, and made it back home with time to spare to watch the US women dominate in the World Cup final.

morning breakfast, then moved our stuff to a new suite, Indian Summer, for our second night. short drive to House on the Rock, which was very interesting and quite strange. very much enjoyed the gardens and original home. long day with lots of walking, eventually headed back to the hotel for a little rest. dinner across the river at The Shed, and another family soak before bed.

4 day holiday weekend – hooray! although will probably end up working all day Monday… boo! up early and picked up a rental for the drive. loaded up the family and began the construction-extended drive up to southern Wisconsin. got to our hotel late afternoon, checked out a few of the suites and ended up in Northern Lights with its igloo and massive jacuzzi. toured the vintage cargo plane onsite, then headed into town for a good Mexican dinner. late night soak with Лена and Mira before putting Mira to bed in her grandmother’s room on the other side of the hotel.

morning Muay Thai sparring, hung out during the day, and early dinner at Fogo. long walk home, enjoying the photo ops along the way.

day at the office, dinner at The Melting Pot which was as slow as ever, but fun nonetheless. nice to see shuffleboard in their bar.

working from home today. evening back to the West Loop rock climbing gym, and Лена got her certification to belay. opened our huge matryoshka that Лена’s mom brought from Russia. 30!

slept in. 🙂 received my present from Mira, a set of Dr. Seuss books – very cool! will be fun reading them and introducing her to something i liked as a child. late breakfast at Meli and a nice dinner around the corner at Acanto.
