my random ramblingsan infrequent (and these days, mostly Mira related…) blog

early drive to O’Hare. got everyone checked in, myself included, and Лена taxied home with Mira. flew to New York with the parents to ensure they’d make their connection, but landed in JFK late, as their flight to Moscow was leaving. scrambled to change them to the only other option on Aeroflot, then got myself on the next direct flight home. finally back, things sure feel more quiet at home. will miss them.

wrapped up work a little early and took a nice walk to the lake and around the park so the parents could say their goodbyes to the city. bar-b-que up on the roof which was great, we really should spend more time up there. parents packed their bags…

more shopping for the family, more work for me. Лена and i grabbed dinner alone across the street at the sushi place while the parents stayed home with Mira.

still working from home – hooray! parents got adventurous and wanted to try Indian for dinner. drove the family out to Devon Street and had a great meal at Tiffin. interesting part of town, nice to finally have a reason to visit.

late afternoon walk to the Sears Tower and a trip up to the 103rd floor for some incredible views of the city. fun time taking pictures on the glass balconies. water taxi up the river to Michigan Ave., grabbed an early dinner at Howells and Hood. back home for football.

drove to the zoo and spent the entire afternoon visiting the poor animals. stopped by the conservatory next door before leaving. dinner at home for a change.

lazy day at home, sent the others out shopping without me again. sushi dinner across the street, just Лена and i. nice having babysitters.

afternoon walk up Michigan all the way to the Oak St. beach. dinner at the Cheesecake Factory, where i had the waiters sing happy birthday to Mira.

borscht for lunch courtesy of Лена’s mom. late walk to the Buckingham Fountain, then back toward the bean. dinner at the Park Grill and back home late.

2 pm at the doctor for Mirana’s checkup with Лена and her mom. Mira’s doing great, weighs almost 16 lbs. but am always sorry to see her get shots. treated to a big storm in the evening with some fantastic lightning. couldn’t go out late due to the storm so had pizza delivered from Malnati’s, which was excellent as always.
