up early, breakfast and on the 8 am train from Lauterbrunnen to Interlaken. transferred to another train through Bern, and finally a last train into Zurich. comfy flight to New York in business, but hassle transferring for my last flight into Chicago. very long day, glad to finally get home. good trip, eager to get back to Lauterbrunnen some time soon.

up early, took a bit of a walk through town, but nothing’s open. back to the hotel for a nice breakfast. set about buying my landing card, third party liability and helicopter rescue insurance. walked over to the BASE Point Cafe, and met Fabien briefly as he was on his way out to jump Yellow Ocean. got pointed to another group leaving in a couple of hours to jump the Nose. poked around, and headed back, but was advised by that group to definitely start with Yellow Ocean. waited for Fabien to return, but was told to come back end of day for the jump, due to the winds in the valley… again poked around town and dutifully returned at 4 pm, but the valley was swimming in clouds by that time. headed home with my rig, disappointed, but they say the hardest part of jumping is knowing when not to jump… did a little shopping, took a bath, and met up with Piyush for dinner. packed and to bed early, no evil television in the room tempting me to stay awake.

packed up last night, checked out early, train to the office, busy morning, quick lunch, and i’m off… caught the tram to the SBB train station, and train via Bern, Interlaken, and finally Lauterbrunnen. gorgeous area, beautiful mountains – could live here no problem… walked to the Hotel Staubbach and received a fantastic room looking north up the valley and directly at the falls. wine on the deck, and an uncomfortable dinner as i’m not feeling so great. hopefully will be over it tomorrow, looking forward to a good day jumping.

morning ritual, then to the office. left work a little early so i could buy chocolate before the stores close. extended team out for dinner at another fancy spot, nearby to a beautiful gothic church. too late for photos unfortunately. back to the room and in bed.

more of the same – up early, breakfast, tram to the office, and busy all day. unsuccessfully tried to buy a train ticket across the street, but at least nice to get out briefly during the day. late at the office in meetings, then met the team for a quick bite at a Turkish spot. in bed and asleep quickly.

got a good night’s sleep, breakfast again, then into the office early. busy busy, Thai spot across the street for lunch, and working until 8 pm. met a few folks for a late dinner, then back to the hotel to chill. stayed up until midnight to catch a call organized back in the US.

up too early, body isn’t yet adjusted to the timezone change. worked for a few hours, then into the office early. busy day, good to spend some face time with the larger team. dinner at an Italian place nearby my hotel. late call, and finally in bed for some sleep.

arrived at 7 am, but only to find my next flight to Basel was canceled. rerouted via Zurich, and arrived around noon. collected my luggage, and jumped on the train to Basel. very tired at this point – found a taxi and took the short ride to the Hotel Basel. showered and then took a tour of the beautifully quaint city. back to the room for some work, then met up with colleagues for dinner and a late stroll. thankfully, in bed early.

midday flight from Chicago to Basel via Amsterdam. great flight to Amsterdam, seat 1A in business. comfortable flight, watched 2 movies and did some work. unfortunately, did not sleep.
