first time taking Mira around in the bassinet, so we stopped by Macy’s to do a little shopping. nice being so close to everything – the park, shops, restaurants, grocery. nice not having to drive anywhere.

found our groove, managing well with our new parental duties and enjoying the additional responsibilites. dropped by Sri and Jana’s early evening for some newborn photography which was great fun and produced scores of fantastic photos. was nice to finally see all of the things that Лена had knitted and crocheted for the occasion. and, unlike Лена’s maternity session, we went home with the photo dvd.

got everything sorted and packed up for our departure. discharge took forever, but eventually we had Mira in my truck and made the short drive home. great to be back, time to learn our new shared rhythm of life. and maybe once in a while i’ll be posting pictures of someone other than our new bundle of joy here on the blog… 🙂

more feedings, less sleep. must say, newborn dirty diapers are really gross. Argo Tea on the first floor, trying lots of new combinations. walked to the Water Tower food court and brought back dinner for both of us in the evening.

again the same cycles, but a more challenging day as Mira is much more fussy. late morning walk to the cafe again with Лена for breakfast. picked up dinner around the corner from the Cheesecake Factory.

not a lot of sleep, but today we’re learning how to be parents. lots of feeding, lots of diapers. deposited Mira in the nursery early evening and took a trip to the cafe with Лена. back to the room for more of the same.

third day in a row working all day and night. Лена was feeling a bit strange, put a stop watch on her and it’s looking like contractions. left for the hospital around 4:30 pm and we were admitted for a check. a day earlier than planned, but they didn’t want Лена to go into labor as our little girl, try as we might, was still breech. Лена was preped for surgery, and i was finally able to join her in the OR. anxiously sat by her side from start to end, and was ecstatic to hear Mira’s cries as they pulled her out at 7:53 pm. 7 lbs, 3 oz and more beautiful than i ever imagined. i held Mira as the doctor finished up the surgery, happily speaking with Лена throughout. mother and daughter both came out as strong and healthy as i expected. short time in recovery, then up to our room for Mira’s first feeding. joyous day – i couldn’t be more thankful for both of my perfect girls.

probably our last weekend as non-parents… Friday night went to a new sushi place in Lincoln Park – tasty! Saturday late morning dealt with the crowds and made the short walk up Michigan to check out the river dyeing. did some shopping around town, then watched a late movie at home. lots of movement in the belly… Sunday night ended up at Butterfly for dinner.

late morning trip to the doctor for a checkup and another ultrasound. my little girl has started to really grow the last couple of weeks, and Лена is getting pretty eager for the big day to finally come.

morning trip to the chiropractor, strange things going on, as usual. got in my first run of the year as the afternoon was only marginally frigid. Nazar and Sofia over late, intended to catch a few movies from the Peace on Earth film festival at the Cultural Center, but instead only managed to sit and talk here at home all night.
