second week of 3 in chicago, which is nice. quiet, uneventful day – just the way i like it. day working from home, evening run in the park and to the museums, then dinner across the street with Лена. couldn’t ask for more… 🙂

another early omelette at the diner around the corner and at the shop before 9 am. first project was to rehandle my bolo in spalted maple which turned out to be more challenging then it should have been – especially as the first set of scales i was using cracked. ended up going past lunch, and John was a big help shaping the handle. polished and cleaned up 4 or 5 others while i was there then hurried back to the hotel, showered, and was on the road a little after 2 pm. long drive back – was really nice to come home to Лена.

early breakfast and at the shop by 8 am. once we were given the green light i started working on my build. found a beautiful piece of blue, green, and yellow birdseye for the handle, combined with the moonglow i brought with me to be used as a liner. overall was a tough knife to build and it ended up taking all day – thankfully Skittles was there to help as i needed it often. dinner that night was fun, but was in bed early for another early start tomorrow.

busy day starting with the orthodontist and a big investment. ended up taking the whole morning, then departed on my mid afternoon drive up to Escanaba for some more knife fun. was elated to arrive and find that Mike came through big time on cutting me a karambit blank. hung out late talking with some familiar folks. really excited for tomorrow.

spent the weekend moving… 🙁 still need to get the other place cleaned, as well as unpack here, but things are starting to come together. was nice to awaken here this morning. took a run through the park during the early evening to the Field Museum and back. picked up Лена from the studio, grabbed dinner, then gave her a driving lesson in the Home Depot parking lot.

met Rajesh and Mark across the street at Joy Luck Palace for a dim sum lunch. Indian for dinner, then stopped by the Shettys for a couple of hours before heading back to the hotel.

dropped off another load then took the elevator up a few floors to the roof and awesome panaramic views of the lake and park. late flight out, back to the west coast.

errands during the afternoon, then moved a small load over as the day turned to night. spread out the color samples and made some decisions for the painters. still a long way to go.

busy day – up early for a couple of appointments with Лена, back home for some calls, then off to the closing. unreal how many documents i was made to sign. raced back home for some more work and a deliverable sign-off, then finally made our way over to the new apartment during the early evening. cool spot, looking forward to making it ours. putting off the bulk of the move until next weekend.

late start, then finished watching the movie that put us both to sleep the night before. visit to Ukrainian Village then swung by the Haymarket Brewery to watch the game. glad to see the Pats lose.
