got my BASE rig today from Apex – DP container and a vented FLiK canopy. 2 days to learn how to pack it before my class starts on Sunday. met up with Joe and spent the night exploring a few establishments in Wicker Park – really liked Big Star. Wicker Park is looking like the leading contender for the new digs after we come back from Europe.
joined Nazar for a night out on the town. started at a Russian club that was pretty dead, so headed over to The Mid and caught a DJ set featuring Tiesto.
got to the DZ late morning and only managed 2 jumps for the day – both of which were pretty lame. second jump ended unceremoniously in a corn field, and it was time to drive back. on the way out, copied Chris’ collection of images and a compilation video from the Flying Fish boogie a few weeks back. met Ramon and Alex downtown at the Tilted Kilt and watched another sad effort by the US national team against Mexico in the Gold Cup final.
stopped by for Komal’s surprise birthday party – fun time and nice to see the crew again. early night so I could motivate early tomorrow morning for the DZ.
booked my flight to Ukraine today, not sure of our return date yet… been spending at least a couple of hours at POW! every day, but never seem to have anything to say about it. my fighting still needs a lot of work, but at least i’ve gotten better at jump rope… 🙂
got in 2 jumps – a 4-way and a 5-way. fun day, but unfortunately had to head back early. spoke to Mike during the day and we confirmed our FJC in Twin Falls, ID with Tom Aiello over the 4th of July. exciting stuff!
drove out to the DZ early and got 5 jumps in. was a mini boogie that the Flying Fish were hosting, so got involved in a couple of silly jumps, including one with a hula hoop and another where we played Mr. Potato Head during free fall. also jumped with Bruce for his 100th, which was an 8-way that turned 4 points. fun day, then dropped by the Tiki Bar before curling up to sleep in the truck.
