snow day

the Village reported 14″ today, so it was an early morning up on the mountain. enjoyed the day snowboarding and Kaheé enjoyed the snow when i got home.

bocce

the newest workplace distraction is bocce. COL built a nice bocce area, and we manage to get in at least one tournament every time we’re on-site. team India put in a good showing on this day, but i can’t imagine they’ll ever repeat the feat.

library benefit

went to a fancy library benefit at the Four Seasons. met up with Robin beforehand and split a bottle of wine. was a nice event with great food, and i even ended up having an ok time.

Dubois redux

made an early morning drive out to Dubois to look at some houses. fantastic drive, saw moose, a coyote, a fox, deer, and elk during the drive. gorgeous country, sometimes painfully so. toured 7 or 8 houses, all interesting, but 3 of them were really compelling. will probably be driving out again next weekend to review the top 3. decisions, decisions… got back into town somewhat early, and managed to get some great views of the Tetons coming back over Togwotee Pass.

opening day 09

first day at the Village for 2009. not too exciting, only 1 run was open. putting my boots on in the parking lot, was something in one of them as i stuck my foot in. turned it over and emptied it out – dog food and sunflower seed shells… i hate mice.

Trail Creek

Kaheé and i took a brief walk across the street in our beautiful back yard, at Trail Creek. the snow will now remain throughout the winter, and it’s a welcome change.

flicker

ok, last one, i promise. this one is a pretty rare sight, the red shafted flicker (i had to look it up). no name for this guy either, but if he keeps visiting that’ll probably change.

Bebe

and seeing i’m on an animal kick, here’s a shot of the woodpecker that loves to visit our suet. i’ve named her Bebe, although it’s probably a dude.

snow bunny

actually a snowshoe hare. i see these guys in the yard throughout the year, and here’s one in his winter coat. good thing we got about 6″ of snow today to help him hide. suprisingly, this one doesn’t have a name.

Rojo

got a surprise visit from the local pine marten that i’ve named Rojo (mispronounced as Ro-jo 🙂 ). hopefully he spends a lot of time here this winter like he did a few winters back, as it’s been many months since i spotted him last.
