slept in and hung out in the hotel all morning. took a bunch of pictures then a quick sushi lunch and into a taxi for the painfully long ride to Panajachel. beautiful spot on Lake Atitlan in the nearby town of Santa Catarina with awesome views of the four volcanoes on the opposite shore. dinner in town by tuk tuk, then back to the Villas B’alam Ya and our lakeside cabin.
early morning flight out, and first time riding the blue line to O’Hare. got into Guatemala City midday and hung out at the InterContinental until Лена’s flight arrived. bottle of champagne in the room then grabbed dinner around the corner at a taqueria within the Zona Viva. in bed somewhat early due to jetlag. aspirations of updating the blog daily with the (very buggy) WordPress iPhone app, but we’ll see.
met up with Mike, Amy, Tim and Mike at the crack of noon and managed to get to the upper mountain for free. great day even with Sublette down, lapping Thunder and the Mushroom Chutes. stopped by the Casper Restaurant and picked up Derrick for a final run. finished up at Cascade and the VC, then into town at the Brew Pub and the Tavern to complete the tour.
been more than a month, and needed the driveway plowed before getting into town. things are looking snowy, and am eager to get out and enjoy it on Saturday. late night at the ‘Coach celebrating the day’s restoration.
first day riding the train, makes for an interesting commute. frustrating to still be waiting on an internet connection at the apartment.
